SGDC Floodlit BQE - Mar 2nd (Sun)

SGDC Floodlit BQE - Mar 2nd

SGDC is proud to host the first British Qualifying Event of the new year again, and the second annual day-night BQE. Please join us under the floodlights for flying, fun, and the usual shenanigans at our home here at Yate Outdoor Sports Complex.

Our BQE is open to pilots of all abilities, so you don't have to be a top racer to take part and have a good time.

You can fly any FPV racing drone, it doesn't have to be a 5 inch race drone (but we would recommend it) you can fly your freestyle rig or even a toothpick and anything up to 6s - Just check it conforms with the BDRA technical specs .

We are limiting this event to 30 pilots to ensure that everyone can get in a good amount of flying and qualifying rounds.

Important Info

We intend to release the track for our BQE on the Velocidrone simulator and a video fly through for people without the simulator on our social media platforms. We’ll also provide a track layout diagram at least a month before the event, so all pilots can fly the track and practice some of the elements before the day. Even though the track will be as close to the sim as possible, it may be subject to change if necessary.

If you are unsure on anything or have any questions, feel free to message us at SGDC on Facebook (https://www.facebook.com/southglosrc) or on Discord (https://discord.gg/vJW3eNH4Vd).

Timing and Event Format

Our event will be run using an ImmersionRC LapRF timing system linked to Livetime. We will also be live streaming our event to YouTube and LiveFPV so that you can easily keep track of the standings. We will be using the BDRA BQE race format (qualifying rounds leading into triple finals for all).

We’ve been granted “Local Variation” for the following changes to the BQE ruleset:
Qualifying to Mains will be your “Single Fastest 3 Consecutive Laps” rather than a percentage of drops.
Mains will be 3 laps with Race Directors discretion on the lap, total straying from the “Algorithm Formula”

On Site Facilities

Our onsite Cafe/Bar will be open all day serving a range of hot/cold food and drinks.

We have toilets & facilities with onsite parking, lots of comfy cafe space & sheltered stadium seating.

Venue capacity for mains charging is available within reason.

Entry Fee

Entry fee is £35, there will be a £2 discount with BDRA membership. This will go directly to funding the venue, our site & track resources allowing us to offer prestigious events like this.

Refund Policy

In the event of a rained off / cancelled race day we will offer a 50% refund, however please prepare your quads to fly in the rain, using conformal coating or appropriate techniques. If the event goes ahead but you cannot fly, we will not be able to refund you. Remember, this is a Winter BQE!

If you cancel your place we will do our best to fill it from the reserve pilots list, if we fill the spot we will refund you minus PayPal fees (4%).
